1st Book Haul 2020: Rekindling an Old Flame

*sings Avant “My First Love” lol hey ya’ll my name is Deee…..and I’m back with another post…..so let’s get to it…… Ever since I graduated grad school, I’ve been trying to find things to do to help occupy my time outside of work, and as much as I love makeup, one can only buy so many foundations, lipsticks, and lip-glosses before they become repetitive.

So, one day while aimlessness scrolling through IG, I randomly stumbled upon bookstagram, which is a section on IG dedicated to hauling, reading and posting book reviews *squeals*. Finding this part of IG was truly like hitting a jackpot of social media posting lollll. Stumbling upon bookstagram was absolutely perfect for me because I used to love reading books in middle and high school.

  • But, I kinda fell off once I entered undergrad and grad school because let’s be real……….who wants to read for fun when you’re forced to read 40+ pages for ONE class -__- I know I surely don’t & I didn’t (I mean just gross). But, now that I’m all done with school*dances*, I’m able to get back to my original first love…..reading……..So without further ado, I present to you my book haul….enjoy….

  • A (*) indicates that I’ve already read the book – This post was made at the beginning of the year, I went back & jazzied up some things bc I really didn’t like the layout of the original post (sorry if you had to suffer through that lol)

And just for fun, I’m going to include some books that I’ve had for a while and need to finish reading, like ASAP.

Becoming by Michelle Obama (🙈) I know, I know, I knowwwww pls don’t revoke my black girl magic card, I just *sigh* I just couldn’t get into this book, the beginning was kinda slow for me, interesting but slow, and I honestly didn’t know what to expect but this book just didn’t grab me like I thought it would – but now that the hype has reduced a bit (& I don’t feel like I’m going to get attacked for not finishing it), I’m going to give it another try at where I left off.

The Wait by DeVon Franklin, Meagan Good, and Tim Vandehey —- so funny enough I’m almost done with this book, but I never found the push to finish it because I felt like a great majority of this book didn’t apply to me. I’m not dating and I’ve been waiting so this book seemed kinda seemed pointless to me, I’ve still bookmarked some things that stuck out to me, but overall it didn’t hit like I thought it would, but I am willing to give it a final go just so to say I finished it.

We’re Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union 🍷 (*hides*) and again just like Becoming this book didn’t initially grab me but I’m definitely willing to give it another try as I enjoy learning about Gabrielle Union & she just seems so cool and fun to be around. Hopefully, I don’t get attacked for this either >.<

I’ll be sure to keep you updated 😉

Till next time,

<3 Deee
